Couple in court over Dudek theft

From the archive, first published Monday 16th Oct 2006.

A LIVERPOOL couple appeared before Wirral Magistrates in connection with property belonging to Liverpool footballer Jerzy Dudek.

Colin William Roberts, 32, of Brookland Road East, faced a charge of receiving stolen football memorabilia and a camera knowing or believing the items to be stolen.

Rachel Collette MacKereth, 25, of the same address was charged with dishonestly handling the same property.

The court decided earlier the case was not

suitable for summary trial.

Julian Linskill, defending, claimed there was a lack of cogent evidence and said the charges needed to be challenged at the committal stage.

Both accused were bailed until November 21.
